Moose are among the finest of venison, but you can't draw a license if you don't apply.

Moose Lottery Applications Now Being Accepted

Alaskan moose hunts cost $10,000–15,000, putting this exciting hunt well beyond the budget of most sporting men and women. However, Maine and New Hampshire offer license lotteries that make a similar hunt available for the price of the tag. You have to get lucky to have your name plucked by a computer, but once that tag is in your hand, you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an outstanding hunting experience. In addition, be prepared for some of the finest venison you’ve ever tasted. You’ll have enough to treat all of your friends, and maybe their friends, too!

Drawing this tag is as much about persistence as good fortune, so if you’re the slightest bit interested in this incredible opportunity, apply for the license or a preference point to build your chances for future years. Bowhunting World posted the details on their website.

Since moose licenses are limited, you'll have the north woods nearly to yourself.

Now’s the time to enter the New Hampshire moose lottery. Applications for the annual lottery cost $15 for residents and $25 for non-residents and are available online. A total of 105 permits are proposed to be issued this year. OAS_AD(“Middle”); Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by midnight on May 29, or delivered to the New Hampshire Fish and Game headquarters in Concord before 4 p.m. that day. Winners will be selected through a computerized random drawing on June 19 at the Fish and Game Department in Concord. The state’s nine-day moose hunt starts the third Saturday in October. This year’s hunt runs from October 17-25. The department says each applicant can choose to be entered into the lottery or to accrue a point and not be entered into the lottery. This benefits those hunters who know they will not be able to hunt this year and want to continue to accrue bonus points. A bonus point system improves the chances for unsuccessful.
