Hunt a Timber Company Lease this Fall

Most hunters are on the lookout for new hunting grounds, even if they have private access or a favorite public spot. Timber company lands are an often-overlooked resource because those tracts are privately owned. Contrary to what many might think, however, most timber companies welcome hunters because they understand the concept of a sustainable resource. Whitetail deer and trees are a renewable resource, and hunters are an important alley in the fight against “anti-cutters.”

Most corporate timberlands are regulated, and if you will take the time to follow their procedures, you may find uncrowded forests and great hunting. Corporate timberland can be found across the United States, so check with your local wildlife officials to determine those tracts near you. Westervelt Wildlife Services controls over 600,000 acres leased to hunters from Virginia to Mississippi, and can be reached at westerveltwildlife.com.
