Taking a youngster turkey hunting is very exciting, probably as much for the adult as the youth. This YouTube video is a great example of things to do and not to do.

First, you want to have the young hunter well camouflaged and sit next to the girl or boy.  As you will see in this video, the adult is also the hunting coach and is able to communicate at critical times without spooking the turkey.

Emphasize Safety: After she pulls the trigger, the adult is quick to unload the shotgun for added safety. Excitement often rules and it’s not a good idea to run to a downed turkey while carrying a loaded shotgun.
