Watching a Merriam’s gobbler strut with the sun shinning through its feathers is breathtaking. All wild turkeys are cool, yet the Merriam’s is tops in the looks department, plus it plays well with other species, enough so that a hunter can often take a Merriam’s and a Rio Grand subspecies on the same hunt. Bam! Bam! Half a grand slam!

Nebraska offers the best turkey hunting opportunities in the entire country.
