Coyotes are a major predator of deer, especially when they band together and hunt in packs.

This video by John McAdams shows a pack of coyotes attacking a mule deer fawn. The fawn puts up a valiant fight along with its mother and other deer that come to its defense. The fawn isn’t sick, wounded, or any of the stereotypes that predator-lovers like to label prey animals. It’s just young and less able to defend itself, as you will see in this struggle that plays out daily where wolves and coyotes abound.
