Years ago, only a fraction of hunters carried cameras in the field because they were heavy, bulky, and expensive. Today, nearly every hunter has a cell phone that’s capable of capturing those unplanned moments that make excellent photographs. Sitka Gear seeks to promote exactly those types of images and is offering a $40,000 in gear and other prizes to reward great digital efforts.

The SITKA Team encourages hunters to share the real things they have seen in the field: the grit, the beauty, the truth and raw emotion that lies at the heart of hunting. It’s a celebration of all who do things differently—those who see things differently—and those who refuse to be conformed to the limited definitions of what it means to be a hunter.

It’s only called a contest because the SITKA Team will be giving away $40,000 in gear and other prizes to the 300 photographers who surprise and inspire them most. “To Diverge doesn’t require hunting uncommon species in uncommon places. It just takes seeing the hunt in uncommon ways, and then honing your skills to be able to share that vision with others,” said SITKA Founder Jonathan Hart. The Diverge Photo Contest is now open at https://www.sitkagear.com/diverge, and can be entered by using the #Diverge5 hashtag on Instagram. Prizes include full SITKA systems, GoPro cameras, and all-expenses-paid trips with VIP access to the annual SITKA Gear Rendezvous in Bozeman, Montana… [continued]
